About the project

The site of the Westcliffe Center for the Performing Arts at the historic Jones Theater in Westcliffe, Colorado, which runs a season of plays, music, dance, special events and first-run movies. It lists upcoming events, galleries and news, and accepts donations.

The challenge

The Westcliffe Center for the Performing Arts runs a full season at the historic Jones Theater in Westcliffe, Colorado, plays, music, dance, special events and first-run movies, largely with volunteers and on a non-profit budget. The site had to sell tickets, promote upcoming shows and raise support.

Behind the scenes, volunteers without technical skills needed to keep events and news current throughout the year.

The solution

I built the site on WordPress with GeneratePress and a custom child theme, using Elementor Pro for layouts. The homepage leads with support for the performing arts and a grid of upcoming events, so the next show is always the first thing visitors see.

Tickera handles online ticket sales and season tickets directly on the site, while local ticket outlets and a note that movie tickets are sold at the door cover everyone else. Menus for rentals, sponsorships and getting involved open other ways to support the theatre.

Gravity Forms with reCAPTCHA handles rental interest and other applications, a news section shares press coverage and notices such as cancellations, and sponsor acknowledgements thank the arts funders.
