My Life with Audree
The book site for Kenneth Norton's memoir of life with his wife as a Deaf couple, with links to the Kindle edition.
About the project
The book site for My Life with Audree, Kenneth Norton's memoir of his life with his wife — described as the first book of its kind to reveal a Deaf couple's life of challenges and opportunities. It presents the book and links to the Kindle edition on Amazon.
The challenge
My Life with Audree is Kenneth Norton's memoir of his life with his wife Audree, the first book of its kind to tell a Deaf couple's story of challenges and opportunities. The site needed to honour her memory and introduce the book with dignity, not like a sales page.
It also had to send readers to buy the Kindle edition, share the praise the book has received, and explain that part of the proceeds supports Deaf students.
The solution
I built a simple, warm single-page site with Bootstrap, served through Cloudflare. It opens with the news readers came for, now available as a Kindle ebook, followed by a short description of the story and a link to buy it.
Quotes from The New York Times and from the President Emeritus of Gallaudet University give it weight, and a note explains that a portion of sales goes to the California School for the Deaf Student Leadership Training Fund. Contact details for the author close the page, including a videophone number.
