QR Code Panda

QRCode-Panda creates custom QR codes for free, for personal or business use. The generator handles many content types — links, text, phone numbers, SMS, Wi-Fi details, contact cards, events and more — with options to customise the code before downloading it.

Plenty of QR code generators are free right up to the moment you want a logo in the middle or a file sharp enough to print. QRCode-Panda set out to be genuinely free for both personal and business use.

It also had to handle far more than web links. People need codes for Wi-Fi logins, contact cards, SMS, phone numbers and calendar events, and each of those needs its own simple form without the tool becoming complicated.

I built QRCode-Panda on WordPress with the Divi theme and a custom child theme. That gave the generator a friendly, fast front end while keeping the guides and blog easy to publish and manage.

The generator walks people through three steps: choose the content type, fill in the details, then style the code, including placing a brand logo in the centre. Codes are produced in high resolution, so they stay crisp on a poster as well as on a screen.
